Members’ Night 2026

Celebrating Fellowship, Recognition and a Touch of Magic

The Singapore Welding Society’s Members’ Night 2026 was held on Friday, 17 April 2026, at the Carnation Room, The Chevrons, bringing together members, corporate partners and friends of the welding community for an evening of appreciation, networking and fellowship. Held from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, the event provided a welcome opportunity for members to step away from their busy work schedules and reconnect with one another in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

Members’ Night has always been more than a social gathering. It is a reminder that SWS is built not only on technical knowledge, standards, training and certification, but also on the people and organisations that continue to support the welding profession in Singapore. This year’s event carried that spirit strongly. From the warm welcome by emcee Goh Chon Min to the President’s message delivered by Prof. John Pang Hock Lye, the evening highlighted a simple but important message: the future of SWS depends on members who continue to step forward, contribute and take an active interest in the Society’s work.

The programme was carefully planned to balance formal recognition with fellowship and entertainment. Guests were welcomed into a convivial atmosphere with a networking buffet, free-flow wine and beer, and ample opportunity to meet colleagues, industry peers and long-time friends. For newer members, the evening offered a useful platform to engage with experienced professionals from the welding, inspection, fabrication, oil and gas, marine, construction and testing sectors. For long-standing members, it was a chance to renew familiar bonds and reflect on the Society’s continuing journey.

One of the most meaningful highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Distinguished Corporate Member Awards. These awards recognise corporate members that have maintained their affiliation with SWS for 25 years or more. Their long-standing support has played an important part in sustaining the Society’s activities and strengthening the welding community in Singapore.

The 2026 Distinguished Corporate Member Award recipients included Hiap Seng Engineering Ltd, PEC Pte Ltd, Kobelco Welding Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, UTOC Engineering Pte Ltd, SGS Testing & Control Services Singapore Pte Ltd, Aster Chemicals & Energy Pte Ltd, ESAB Asia/Pacific Pte Ltd, MTQ Engineering Pte Ltd, Singapore Takada Industries Pte Ltd, and Singapore Refining Company Private Limited. The recognition of these organisations was a fitting acknowledgement of their contribution to the industry and their continued commitment to SWS.

Beyond the awards, the evening also carried an important call to action. Members were encouraged to support the Society by volunteering in various capacities and by taking an active role in the upcoming Annual General Meeting in May. This message was timely and relevant. As SWS continues to expand its work in training, certification, technical talks, international affairs, publications and industry engagement, the contribution of members remains vital. The Society can only remain strong when its members participate, share expertise and help shape its future direction.

Adding a lively and memorable element to the evening was the magic performance by Kai Emmanuel. The roving and interactive stage magic brought laughter, surprise and energy to the room, creating moments of shared enjoyment among guests. It was an excellent reminder that professional networking does not always need to be formal all the time; sometimes, the most memorable conversations begin with a smile, a shared experience and a little magic.

SWS Members’ Night 2026 successfully blended recognition, fellowship and entertainment. It celebrated the organisations that have stood by the Society for decades, welcomed members into meaningful conversation, and reminded everyone present that SWS is, above all, a community. As Singapore’s welding industry continues to evolve with new technologies, standards and skills requirements, the strength of this community will remain essential.

The evening closed on a positive note, with members leaving not only with fond memories but also with a renewed appreciation of the value of belonging to SWS. Members’ Night 2026 was a celebration of people, partnership and purpose — and a reminder that the Society’s future will continue to be shaped by those who contribute, participate and believe in advancing welding excellence in Singapore.
