Guided wave testing has been in the market for a number of years and provides an effective screening solution to identify areas on cross sectional defects along the length of a pipeline. The technique provides the most efficient method for covering large volumes of surface area and to help identify areas of concern for follow validation. GWT or LRUT uses ultrasonic wave forms transmitted down the length of the pipe to detect and interpret return signals for anomalies.
