ABSTRACT

Developing a practical underwater X-ray inspection system requires overcoming numerous engineering challenges that do not exist in conventional radiography. This presentation introduces the recently launched Nautilus Subsea X-ray Inspection System and explores the technical considerations behind its development, including underwater operation, system architecture, radiation safety, communication, power management, and image quality optimization. Attendees will gain insight into the design process, lessons learned, and the future potential of digital radiography for subsea inspection applications.

Eli Dayan is an NDT Specialist at NOVO DR, specializing in digital radiography technologies and advanced inspection solutions. He has extensive experience in industrial digital detector systems, radiography standards, and the implementation of innovative NDT technologies across a wide range of industries. Eli works closely with inspection companies and equipment manufacturers, supporting the adoption of digital radiography solutions for challenging inspection environments.

Eli has an NAS410 RT Level II Certification and has almost 20 years of experience in Digital Radiography.
